“Can I touch your tail?” I asked the massive white tiger before me, speaking with justified confidence. “After all, I’m carrying your child.”
Bai Lin, with his striking golden eyes, looked at me and spoke in a deep, proud voice, “So what? If I don’t want it, no one can force me.”
“I won’t give birth, then.”
I reached out, pretending to hit my slightly protruding belly. Bai Lin was so startled that his fur bristled, and he nearly jumped in the air. He immediately flung his tail in front of me.
