The Elegant Trap

A woman, Ban Yeonha, weathered a life ravaged by debt.

She proposes marriage to her long-time crush, her boss.

“You said you needed a woman who wouldn’t whine, would be satisfied with money, and could quickly bear you a child. What do you think of me?”

A man, Seo Kang-hyun, doesn’t trust the heart of a poor woman.

He scoffs at the oddly irritating proposal from his junior secretary.

“Can you accept my conditions?”

“Yes. However, regarding the money… I’d like to receive it as a lump sum after I give birth.”

“A lump sum?”

“So… please pay off my debt.”

The woman was asking him to remove the shackles that had bound her ankles her entire life. To Seo Kang-hyun, who only thought to exploit those shackles.

Kang-hyun’s eyes narrowed.

“Am I a woodcutter then? Giving money instead of feathered robes to the wife who bears my child?”
