“Acid: A Eunuch’s Dream of Being Emperor” uses nightmare-like storytelling, a genre-based structure, and elements of horror to expose the darkness of human nature. During the reign of Emperor Guangxu in the late Qing Dynasty, life in Tang Town is quiet and stagnant, until it descends into a nightmare.
