University students Xie Nan, Shao Dongzi, and Su Kun take advantage of a long holiday to visit their hometown in Xiangxi. By chance, they encounter the mysterious death of a distant relative, an ancient and enchanting heirloom, and a mad, even inescapable maze of confusion that silently descends upon them.

Upon returning to campus, the tolling of a bell calling for souls begins to sound, and tragedies occur one after another.
