Description

Ye Yunting, the unpopular first son of the Duke of Qi, was married by an imperial decree to Prince Yong’an, Li Fengqi.

Prince Yong’an defended the northern border and had killed countless enemies, deserving the title of the “War God of Bei Zhao”.

However, when Ye Yunting married him, this bed-ridden War God was already poisoned, his meridians severed.

Ye Yunting was devastated by the marriage. Out of fear of the War God’s reputation, he hid in his own courtyard to live a life of peace. Not long after, he accidentally drank the poisonous soup given to the Prince of Yong’an and died.

Before his death, the Yong’an prince, who was said to be dying, half-knelt in front of his bed, held his hand, and solemnly promised, “You lost your life because of me. From now on, I will do my best to protect your loved ones, so go in peace.”

Later on, he ascended the throne as the emperor, and indeed honored his promise to shelter Ye Yunting’s only family.

In his second life, Ye Yunting still couldn’t avoid the fate of marrying Prince Yong’an. But this time, he decided to take good care of the dying man and repay his kindness from his previous life.

However, he did not expect the man to be cured and then to be impatiently pulled into his arms.

He was held tightly in the man’s embrace: “Follow me. From now on, I will protect you.”
