“I hate Mcthurden.”
“Is that all you hate? I bet you’d like to kill me right now…”
“Still, Izak.”
But even so, Cayden missed Izak. As much as he resented her, he missed her more than he hated her, and sometimes tears would well up in his eyes.
When he heard that the marriage to Izak was finalized, he felt a strange sense of relief, even as he hated her madly. When Izak went off to fight in the sudden war, he would start and stop writing letters at night. Both resent her for leaving him behind under the suffocating pressure of the Duke of Macthurden and fearing that she might be harmed.

‘If the world is split in two, I will protect the Crown Prince.’
‘Izak must marry me!’
The sweet, glorious memory crumbled to ashes.
“I’ll never marry a Macthurden.”
“You want to kill me, you want to tear my father to shreds for driving the Empress to her death, then wait. Lie flat on your back and be patient until the time is right.”
Izak was terrified of his power-mad father. Fear that even Cayden might die at his hands.
So Izak decides to become the Crown Princess.
To protect Cayden.
?
The eyes of Cayden, her husband of six years, were dead.
“Izak. Your heart is beating fast.”
His gaze lowered enticingly, and Cayden’s head tilted, “Did the mere mention of your name turn you on?”
Just before his lips touched hers, Izak’s eyes narrowed.
Suddenly, Cayden let out a small laugh, “So what? I’m bored as hell, let alone excited.”
