Yoo Hyun-jin, a promising young priest of the Je-yang Kingdom, has harbored a secret love for Hyun Tae-oh, the youngest son of the prestigious Hyun family, for many years. However, fully aware that his feelings could never come to fruition, he devoted himself to theology, keeping his heart in check and rapidly climbing the ranks toward his formal ordination as a priest.

One night, a banquet is held to welcome Governor Hyun Tae-oh back to the capital after seven years in the conflict-ridden borderlands. Hyun-jin, arriving to retrieve his drunken younger brother, finds himself entangled in an unexpected mishap that leaves his clothes ruined. Stripped bare, he is forced to wait in a backroom of the restaurant while his garments are being washed. Beside him lies an unconscious, equally unclothed Hyun Tae-oh.

At dawn, Hyun Tae-oh wakes up, sees their compromising state, and immediately jumps to the wrong conclusion. Overwhelmed by the situation and his long-hidden affections, Hyun-jin impulsively jokes that Hyun Tae-oh drunkenly had his way with him.

Before he can retract his words, Hyun Tae-oh, taking full responsibility for having supposedly defiled a priest, solemnly declares that he will atone for his actions. Things spiral out of control when the esteemed noble—who is also the betrothed of the Je-yang Kingdom’s princess—abruptly calls off his long-standing royal engagement, throwing the entire court into chaos.
